Chapter 3: Radio Wave Principles #
You press a button, talk into a mic, and someone miles away hears you clearly — no cell phone, no internet, no wires between you. That’s the whole point of ham radio, and this chapter is about how it actually works: what a radio wave is, how it travels, and why some frequencies behave differently from others.
There’s more physics in this chapter than the last two, but most of it boils down to a few ideas that cover a lot of ground (no pun intended). We’ll focus on understanding the concepts rather than memorizing tables, and we’ll come back to this material repeatedly throughout the rest of the book.
